A stylish arcade racer

I was the principal campaign designer for Need for Speed: Unbound. We tried to get the tension just right so you really felt that choosing the right event each session was a meaningful choice.

  • Players have to decide which races they want to take part in each session

  • Every race they complete earns them cash depending on how they placed, and heat

  • Heat dictates how much attention the cops pay to you, so you need to balance how much cash you want to earn with keeping a low profile

  • Each in-game week you need to earn enough cash for the buy-in for a qualifier, and you need to upgrade your car

  • I wanted to make sure there was always something enticing for you to do each session, whether that was a big money event or an opportunity to win a unique car

  • I also created the game's session challenges - which nudge players towards a varied play experience
